CANDACE’S TOP FIVE CHARLOTTESVILLE RESTAURANTS

I love how Charlottesville has become such an amazing food town. I enjoy dining out and recommending my favorite restaurants to my friends and my guests at The Inn At Court Square! While living in Charlottesville or visiting this fabulous city, I hope you have a chance to experience some of my favorite restaurants!

The Inn At Court Square

Enjoy wine dinners with Chef Jim in a warm intimate atmosphere in the oldest house downtown. Join us for our next wine dinner January 28th for an exceptional dinner experience. We will also be serving an amazing dinner during Valentine’s weekend, February 11th through the 14th. Also you can enjoy Chef Jim’s wonderful lunches Monday through Friday. My favorite lunch specials are Jim’s lobster salad and his house-made BBQ.

Alley Light

A short walk from the Inn At Court Square, you will find a hidden jewel in an alley at 108 2nd Street S.W. Just look for the light over the door, because there is no sign to let you know you are in the right place. I love to start with Cauliflower Gratin and the Tuna Carpaccio. The Pork Belly and Potted Shrimp are a must too! The desserts are always fabulous! Will, Chris, and their wonderful staff always take great care of me and my guest, but please be sure to make a reservation!

Tavola

Located in the Belmont neighborhood, at 826 Hinton Avenue, you will find a small Italian restaurant. Tavola is just a short distance from The Inn At Court Square and a favorite to locals. I have been enjoying Tavola since the first day Michael Keaveny opened his doors! The specials are always outstanding but I usually order the Burrata to start and then the Seared Scallops over beet-leek risotto. Everything is so fabulous and worth the wait!
Mas Tapas

Mas is a Spanish tapas restaurant located at 904 Monticello Avenue, just a block from Tavola and a short walk or drive from The Inn At Court Square. I love the bacon wrapped figs, smoked fire roasted tomatoes, and the large, crispy prawns. Everything is so tasty, but those are just a few of my favorites things that chef Thomas Rahal creates!

The Downtown Grill

Located on the downtown walking mall and just a short walk from The Inn At Court Square is our most classic steak and seafood restaurant. I always enjoy the wedge salad, the Seared Sushi grade Sesame Crusted Tuna, and then I can’t leave until I have their delicious creme brulee! Robert, Michael, and their staff are always so wonderful to my family and my inn guests! My family usually enjoys the bar for drinks and dinner!
